The gathering, which occured between the 30th of Dec and 2nd of January marked the anniversary of the EZLN uprising in 1994. Thursday, 2 November 2006. A day late perhaps, but comrades in Canberra , Australia mobilised as part of a global wave of solidarity with the revolt in Oaxaca and against the repression of the Mexican state.

The repression against the Popular People`s Assembly of Oaxaca (APPO) and its supporters, significantly heightened last Friday with the entrance of the army and Federal Preventative Police and subsequent deaths, disappearances, detentions and casualties, continues today in Oaxaca.
