FRAY BARTOLOMÉ DE LAS CASAS HUMAN RIGHTS CENTER, OTHER ORGANIZATIONS, PUEBLO CREYENTE, COMPAÑEROS OF THE EZLN, COMPAÑEROS OF THE OTHER CAMPAIGN AND THE PEOPLE OF MEXICO AND OTHER INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS:

We, the groups of political prisoners that make up La Voz de los Llanos and the other three compañeros fasting in solidarity with us, denounce all that we’ve been going through. Now, 72 hours have passed since the beating we received from “los precisos”–– Bartolo García Suárez, Damián Gutiérrez García, Elías Domínguez Trejos, and Eleuterio de la Cruz Martínez. 

Today, 72 hours later, we were summoned to the legal offices, where they asked us what happened. With hostile words of intimidation, the legal director Rocío Victoria, asked us if we’d really thought about our decision to press charges against “los precisos”; she said that Bartolo is going to defend himself and that he has the full support of the prison population. These words say a lot, but we know that’s not the way things are. We responded by asking her why they had waited 72 hours to call us in, when the prison authorities should have acted immediately and not waited until now.

They did act, but against La Voz de los Llanos and our request to be transferred to another prison. While the aggressors enjoy their privileges, we’re suffering. We’re in a very small medial area without any medial attention whatsoever. We can’t prepare our food, we can’t have a change of clothes sent in, and up until now the warden hasn’t resolved a thing. We spoke to her Tuesday morning, but right now we don’t know if we’re waiting for a solution or if we’re being punished. And the ones who should be here are the aggressors. We still don’t know exactly what the warden is up to.

We’ve received information from other comapñeros held prisoner that “los precisos” are waiting for us along with “los talacheros”. They’ve suspended their work responsibilities on one condition: that they beat us up when we return. These are the plans of “los precisos”. We want justice and we want to be transferred as soon as possible. If the authorities don’t order this, this means that they’re in on all that’s going on against  La Voz de los Llanos.

We ask you to stay up to date on our situation and to keep demanding justice and an end to corruption in the prisons.
